Within/Without My life has brought me through many challenges. This book is full of thoughts written through my life's journey with spirit by my side. It calls to the heart and opens feelings buried within us. Some of the short jottings pull one's heart in different directions which help to release that which we no longer need to carry, while others spark happy memories to reawaken our inner joy. "Torch" Sometimes love isn't enough to light the way out of darkness for one so close in heart. They must choose to strike the fire that will guide them to that which they lost along their way.
"Rose" And so the petals open, one by one. Exposing the desire to share the scent and softness with one who can appreciate the delicate edges and strength she has held inside so long. The wind’s sensations are but a tease, making her longings grow stronger to be cut from her stem, and allowed to float among the lilies that dance in the pond in the morning light. She is nectar, waiting to be tasted.
"Joy" I heard you chuckle the other day. It came bubbling out with the memory of our first days together. I hear that joy come from you and fall in love all over again, with that youthful soul that resides in you still.
"Smudgy" Sweet crickets sing me back to a time when the soles of my feet were tough as leather and my chin was covered with powdery brown dirt from being eye to eye with my trolls in their camp in the deep wood. Trees invited me to climb and breathe their pitch deep into my veins while watching the hawks circle toward the distant mountains. I wore dried weeds in my tussled hair and stickers on my clothes as badges of honor. My knees lie under scabs till the rain began in October and a trace of bike grease was ever present on the inside of my right calf. And hiding somewhere in the corner of my smile was the spark of the secret that nature could always hold me and love and cherish this dirty little smudgy spirit of a girl.
